UCSS Partnership: Providing Housing Solutions in Uganda
Uganda is one of the poorest nations in the world. Many people live on less than two dollars a day, particularly in rural areas like Buluya. It is not surprising that many live in substandard housing with corrugated metal or thatch roofs, often in need of repair. The lack of affordable quality housing compromises people’s health and development opportunities, which perpetuates the poverty cycle. Brush Arbor Homes has partnered with Uganda Counseling and Support Services (UCSS) to provide the necessary funding for the construction of two homes for families in critical need in Buluya.
Saba, his wife and two of their six children are featured in the picture below. All eight of them were living together in a small round hut. The photo to the right is a new, larger and well constructed home currently being built that can better shelter their family. It is an honor to give to UCSS who is providing hope to families, like Saba’s, who previously had no place to turn and no one to help. Through our partnership, life has been forever changed for these precious people.
Uganda Counseling and Support Services (UCSS)
UCSS’s mission is to improve the quality of life for people living in Uganda by giving them the tools they need to live self-sustainable, hopeful lives. They do this by not only providing housing, but also through a myriad of social outreach efforts. UCSS facilitates community education, the building of clean water wells, medical care, economic and agricultural development, as well as counseling services to support the mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of Ugandans.
