Surviving the Fuego Volcano Eruption: The Story of the Ajsaj Family
On June 3, 2018, Guatemala experienced a catastrophic series of eruptions from the Fuego volcano, Guatemala’s most severe volcanic eruption in 45 years. The eruption came with little warning, leaving almost no evacuation time and resulting in the deaths of nearly 200 people. The Ajsaj family was among those affected, losing both their home and their way of life. For generations, the Ajsaj family had lived and labored on a coffee plantation, which was completely destroyed in the eruption. Brush Arbor partnered with Barry Staley, a missionary with Independent Missionary Network, to help the Ajsaj family rebuild. Their new home has been a great blessing in their time of need and a message of hope for the future.
Independent Missionary Network
IMN is the result of a vision of its founder Keith Brutout, who has been led by the Lord to reach out to a cross-culture ministry. We exist to help Missionaries develop relationships that make Christ Known, demonstrate the Love of God, and bring the Gospel to all people groups.
Keith and his wife, Dawn work to support the missionaries of IMN and their calling from God into ministry. We believe that we are not sending missionaries into the mission field, but following and helping them with what and where they have been called to do by God. We believe that God calls each one of us and IMN comes alongside to help with their calling.
