Meet the Builder
Brush Arbor owner, Jonathan Smith was raised in Loudoun County, where he currently resides with wife Susie and 4 kids. After college, he traveled the world to build homes in East Africa and South America. Stateside, he worked for NV Homes, where he won numerous awards, before founding Brush Arbor Homes in 2007. Gritty yet laid back, Jonathan leads by example, giving attention and focus to clients, staff and sub-contractors, alike. A golf wannabe (+12 actually), Jonathan says, “eternal significance” is his hope for Brush Arbor’s legacy.
Meet the Team
Born in Fairfax and raised in Arlington, Scott had an early start in the ‘biz’, working alongside his dad, also a contractor. With Brush Arbor for 2 years now, he previously worked as a missionary in Guatemala, where he met Brush Arbor owner Jonathan Smith. Fluent in Spanish, Scott’s favorite part of his job is working with all the various sub-contractors. Scott and his wife Debora are busy working on their first home in Harper’s Ferry, and rooting the Nats to a World Series title. Someday.
Brian has managed Brush Arbor’s most challenging projects, following his time with NV Homes and BEK Building Group/KBR Building Group. He’s is a true field guy who enjoys all the relational interactions with sub-contractors, county inspectors and homeowners. As a New England native, he’s a Red Sox fan and seafood lover. Brian and his wife, Jean, are parents to 4 adorable kids and live in Great Falls, where he is building the ultimate man cave.
With over 20 years as an interior designer, Sherri holds the sweet spot on the Brush Arbor team. Her calm nature and sense of humor put clients at ease as they make selections for “the pretty things”. Sherri loves helping clients discover their personal style, while keeping an eye on the big picture. Married to her rocker love Mark they make their home in Purcellville and are blessed with 2 adult kids and a very fuzzy dog.
Susan joined Brush Arbor after more than 20 years in the technology industry, working at industry leaders like SATC and Lockheed Martin, as well as at her own website design company. Susan works closely with clients, vendors and the field staff, managing every aspect of the building process, ensuring all aspects of the business run smoothly. A graduate of James Madison University, she and husband Tim have 3 children and make their home in Purcellville where they cheer on the Loudoun Valley football team- Go Vikings!
Lynn, an Arlington native, handles all administrative tasks for Brush Arbor, including invoices management and construction draws. She cuts right through any red tape and follows up on all payments due. While she and husband Gary raised their 4 children in Ashburn, they love to visit the Northern Neck or travel to watch their youngest daughter play volleyball at the University of South Carolina.
Joan joined Brush Arbor to lend a hand and thankfully, she has two! After an eclectic professional life that included radio and boutique ownership, Joan assists with Brush Arbor’s marketing and public relations. She loves the Red Sox, her husband Scot and cold weather. Joan and Scot live in Sterling and enjoy spending lots of family time with 3 adult kids and their families.
After years in the airline industry, Kevin turned a woodworking hobby into a thriving business. In 2016, his work caught the attention of Brush Arbor owner Jonathan Smith, who invited him to join the team! With a keen eye for craftsmanship, he oversees the fine-tuning and warranty work of our projects. Kevin and his wife Kristi live in Ashburn, root for the Nationals, spend time with their precious granddaughter, and travel whenever possible.
Jason is our most recent addition to the Brush Arbor family after working at EYA as the Director of Procurement for over 5 years. His passion is custom residential and he believes there’s never a need to sacrifice quality to appease shareholders. Jason’s energy & enthusiasm have been a boost to the office and field staff. A Southwestern PA native, Jason loves all things Steelers. He lives in a self-renovated home in Annandale with his wife Jessica, their 2 little boys and Nacho, the cat.
